It would make sense that an appliance used to clean, needs to be cleaned so it can clean right?! Just like our wonderful dishwashers, I am so thankful to the inventor of the modern day washing machine.
To help your front loader washing machine function at its best to give you the best results possible, follow these few simple steps:
Step 1
Pull out the detergent tray and wipe down with a micro-fibre cloth. You can always spray some diluted white vinegar solution (I use 2 parts vinegar to 3 parts white) on your cloth first if there is some gunk to clean off.
Step 2
Wipe down the inside of the door using a diluted white vinegar solution, and the rubber gasket, making during to get into all the spaces.
Step 3
Drain pipe and filter. For this step, make sure your check your machine' s service manual and instructions.
Step 4
Make a solution using 1/4 cup baking soda and enough water to make a runny paste. Pour into detergent tray.
Step 5
Pour two cups of white vinegar directly into the drum. I like adding lavender essential oil to this to add in the anti-bacterial properties and to make my washing machine smell pretty.
Step 6
Use your machine's self cleaning cycle if you have one, or just run your hottest and longest cycle.
Extra tips:
Always leave the detergent tray and door open to your machine after you have finished doing your laundry to allow it to air out and dry out.
